I thought for sure I'd go over budget this week but I couldn't pass up the deal on the steaks. In the end, I came out a little under budget. I didn't shop on Tuesday this week because of flooding rain all day. So, I went to four stores today. HEB had Steak-umms advertised for a dollar per 9-ounce box but naturally they were sold out. I did get a raincheck and hopefully they'll have them in stock next week.

I bought the canned bean sprouts today just in case I can't get fresh ones at Food Town next Tuesday. I like to put them in my Quick Asian Pork Stir-Fry.

I bought all of the fresh produce to make my Grandma's German "Potato" Salad today but with cauliflower, of course. I'm looking forward to it. Her salad was a family favorite when I was growing up. It's not like the traditional sweet and sour vinegar type German potato salad. Hers has a sour cream and mayonnaise dressing with bacon and lots of parsley and green onions. She served hers hot but I'm going to serve mine as a cold salad. We'll also have some apple and Gouda smoked sausages with the salad.

  1. Enjoy those NY Strips, Linda, they're my favorite cut of steak! What an incredible price - great job on being under budget. Let us know how the "potato" salad turns out.

    1. Hi Maria. I've made the "potato" salad before so I knew it would be good. Although I do like it cold, I've decided that I like it a little better slightly warmed in the microwave. I think that warming it enhances the flavors.
