THURSDAY'S SHOPPING

No crowds at the new Aldi store this morning. I was almost alone in the store shortly after they opened. Luckily they still had eggs for 99-cents this week so I bought four dozen.

I got a bit of sticker shock buying cone coffee filters for the first time today. Our ancient Mr. Coffee maker died the other day and we just happened to have another coffee maker that we'd gotten free from Gevalia years ago. It was brand new and still in the box just waiting for Mr. Coffee to kick the bucket. The drawback is that it takes cone filters which cost a lot more than the regular kind. I was buying the regular cheap kind at $1.29 for 200 and the cone filters are $1.78 for only 100. But, I think that the free coffee maker will cover the extra cost of the filters for a few years since we didn't have to buy a new machine.
