Product Review - Low Carb Cheezy Crackers - Fresh Baked

I didn't think that I liked these when I first tried them. They have a somewhat hard, grainy texture with only a subtle flavor of cheese. They also don't have a lot of salt in them and really don't have much flavor at all. After eating them a few more times, I've decided that they actually make a great snack because they don't make you want to eat more and more of them like traditional high carb snacks do. Just a couple of small pieces make a satisfying snack.

They come in very large pieces that you can break up into whatever size "crackers" you like. I kind of like that idea but I think they would look nicer if they were in little squares for serving them at a party. On the other hand, they're not really the sort of thing that I'd serve for company. I would treat them more like trail mix or granola bars and reserve them for times when I might need to take a little snack along with me. They taste more like "health food" than snacky junk food, if you know what I mean. I think that the cheese is what makes them more tasty than something like those hard dry Wasa crisps that I ate when I was on a low fat diet (cardboard comes to mind). These are more like a crispbread kind of thing though than true crackers. Click HERE to buy this product from LC-Foods.

New Recipe: Salsa Burger Scramble

SALSA BURGER SCRAMBLE

Surprise! I've finally added a new recipe to my website. The last time I added a recipe was way back in April. This recipe isn't pretty to look at but it is tasty and filling. It's a variation of an old favorite created by Dottie from Low Carb Friends. Click HERE to see the recipe.

Two more new CARBmaster Flavors

Today I found the lemon CARBmaster yogurt at Kroger and they also had another new flavor called Pineapple Coconut. I'm eating the lemon one as I type this and I haven't decided yet if I like it or not. My first impression was that it tasted like lemon meringue pie filling but then I started getting a sort of artificial aftertaste. You know how lemon flavored things can sometimes taste a bit like the smell of household cleaners? That's not such a good thing.

I haven't tried the Pineapple Coconut yet and I think that I will like that one better.

New CARBmaster yogurt flavor at Kroger

In the past few weeks, the CARBmaster yogurt has started appearing on the shelf with a new label. When I went there yesterday, they had a brand new flavor - Apple Cinnamon. I tried one last night and it's quite good and I will buy it again. It would be very nice with some of my Coconutty Crunch mixed in but I don't have any on hand at the moment. I also saw a shelf tag for lemon flavor which might be good. They didn't have any in stock but I'll keep an eye out for it.

New Recipe: Jaffa Whip

I added a new dessert recipe to my website. It's called Jaffa Whip and it's a yummy combination of orange and chocolate that tastes a lot like Jaffa Cakes. Click HERE to see the recipe.

UPDATE: I made this again but used raspberry jello instead of orange. While it's good, I do like the orange much better. There's just something wonderful about orange with chocolate that can't be beat.

New Recipe: Toddster63's Ultimate Faux Junk Wheat Bread Buns

I tried a new variation of the classic Atkins Revolution Rolls today. The recipe was posted at Low Carb Friends by Toddster63. Although I baked them today, I haven't actually tasted one or posted the recipe on my website yet. I'm making hamburgers tomorrow and I'll report back to let you know what I think of them. So far they look very good. They seem very sturdy and didn't collapse as they cooled like every other version that I've tried.

As you can see, I baked them in a muffin top pan which I had lined with greased foil. I just knew that they would stick to the pan horribly if I hadn't done that no matter how well I greased it. It turned out to be a great idea.

You can see Toddster63's recipe and read the thread about them HERE.

By the way, I did order some of the SucraDrops that I blogged about HERE. I ordered them through their website, they got here quickly and I like them very well. So far I haven't used them in recipes because I bought them for sweetening beverages where Sweetzfree would be too concentrated.

Recipe Variation - Orange Sour Cream Cake with Cloud Frosting

Today I made my Orange Sour Cream Cakes recipe in a cake pan and frosted it with Cloud Frosting. The recipe is usually made as cupcakes and they look like this:

ORANGE SOUR CREAM CAKE

I didn't make any changes to the ingredients but I did have to bake the cake about 10-15 minutes longer than the cupcakes.
