    I came over to your site to look for some motivation in cutting my grocery costs. Have you written any posts about how you keep your grocery costs down? What are your tricks to keep your grocery budget so low? Have you ever costed out your recipes? I am cooking for 2 of us and my grocery budget is much higher than yours.

    1. I thought I had done something like that but, if I did, I can't find it now. However, if you've been reading my shopping lists, you can see how I save money by watching for mark-down deals and sales.

    2. Yes, I've noticed how you watch for mark-down deals (I do that, too). I've noticed you shop 2 times a week at 2 or 3 different stores. It doesn't look like you snack much in between meals. And I've noticed that you normally don't eat veggies alongside a casserole that has veggies in it? These kinds of ideas are very helpful.

    3. That's right. On Tuesdays I usually go to at least 2 stores and on Thursdays I might hit four or five.

      As far as snacks, I really don't snack much. If I do, I nibble on a little cheese or I make a cheese crisp or two.

      You're also right about veggies in casseroles. I go light on veggies anyway to keep my fiber down but I generally don't cook a side dish when I make a casserole that has vegetables in it. I also stopped making lettuce salads for the most part. We both like them but lettuce has too much fiber for me and my husband often doesn't feel like eating a salad so the lettuce would go bad before we could finish it. Now I stick with frozen vegetables mostly or buy fresh ones when they're on sale. It really depends on what I'm making though.
