THURSDAY'S SHOPPING
Oops! I went over my budget again this week, partly because I bought marked down ground beef and ground pork on Tuesday. At least I got some pretty good deals. The ground pork was marked down 25% and the ground beef was half price. The ham pieces were a steal at 99-cents pound. Eggs were still 99-cents at Aldi this week so I bought two dozen more even though I still had a couple dozen left from last week. I couldn't pass up celery for 59-cents either. I rarely need fresh celery so I will chop the whole bunch and freeze it for recipes.

I bought two containers of ice cream for Jerry this week because it was on sale. I also bought the pancake mix for him. He loves pancakes so I told him that I'd make them for him occasionally. I had to buy a complete mix that only needs water because I never buy milk anymore now that our son has moved out. I already had pancake syrup in the pantry.

I splurged on the coffee at Aldi today because I want to see if I like theirs. It's always $3.99 so I might buy it there when Community coffee isn't on sale at Kroger. I might not even buy myself any more coffee for a while. I really only drink it in the winter when it's cold and spring is just around the corner. I only have it once or twice a week even in the winter. I try not to drink coffee more than two days in a row so that I don't get hooked on it.

I found the lip balm in the clearance bin at Kroger. They were marked down to only $1.29 per package of three. That's cheaper than buying one tube at the regular price so I bought all four packages that they had. It works out to only 43-cents per tube.

The Broccoli and Chicken Stir-Fry will be my tweak of a recipe from The Neelys from Food Network. You can see the original recipe HERE.

I'm going to use the ham bone that I saved from our Christmas ham to make the "Split Pea" Soup this time. I usually buy smoked turkey legs but I might as well make use of the ham bone and save a LOT of money. Those smoked turkey legs are very expensive. There just won't be as much meat in the soup as usual unless I buy some diced ham to add to it. We'll probably have enough other main dish leftovers though that the soup won't have to be a main dish this time.

WEDNESDAY'S SHOPPING
We're supposed to get all-day rain today so I did my shopping a day early.

The cheap price on the cauliflower at Aldi was just a fluke. When I got home, and looked over my receipt, I saw that the cashier rang it up as a grapefruit. It should have been 79-cents. Instead of making the asparagus soup that's on my menu for this week, I'm going to use the cauliflower to make "Cauliflower Bisque" today. I've got some chicken bones simmering on the stove to use in the soup.

I actually paid a bit more at Walmart than listed above. They overcharged me by $1.88 on the light bulbs so I will get a refund next week.

I was recently asked what I usually eat for breakfast and I realized that I haven't been posting about it here on my weekly menus. My husband usually eats the quiches that I make and I usually have a CARBmaster yogurt with some whipped cream folded in and topped with some of my Coconutty Crunch. The whipped cream helps boost the fat content and makes the yogurt more filling. As far as lunches, I mostly eat whatever leftovers are on hand or I'll make myself some eggs.

THURSDAY'S SHOPPING

No crowds at the new Aldi store this morning. I was almost alone in the store shortly after they opened. Luckily they still had eggs for 99-cents this week so I bought four dozen.

I got a bit of sticker shock buying cone coffee filters for the first time today. Our ancient Mr. Coffee maker died the other day and we just happened to have another coffee maker that we'd gotten free from Gevalia years ago. It was brand new and still in the box just waiting for Mr. Coffee to kick the bucket. The drawback is that it takes cone filters which cost a lot more than the regular kind. I was buying the regular cheap kind at $1.29 for 200 and the cone filters are $1.78 for only 100. But, I think that the free coffee maker will cover the extra cost of the filters for a few years since we didn't have to buy a new machine.

Tuesday's Shopping

I didn't need to buy much today and they didn't have any marked down meat. I wasn't planning to buy the jalapeƱos but they looked very fresh and my jar of Bread & Butter JalapeƱos is getting pretty low. I made another batch of them when I got home.

THURSDAY'S SHOPPING
A new Aldi store just opened today that's about the same distance from me on the same road as the other location but in the opposite direction. It's actually a little closer so I'll probably shop there from now on. However, I decided not to stop there today because people were lined up out the door and around the side of the building for the grand opening. I really wanted to get the 99-cent eggs but decided that I'd rather not wait in line just for eggs and a few other things that I didn't need all that much.

Tuesday's Shopping

Because I got some coleslaw mix marked down really cheap today, I've made a change in this week's menu. I was going to try a new chicken recipe tomorrow but instead I'm going to make My Favorite Sloppy Joes. I think that sloppy joes and slaw go perfectly together. I bought the two jalapeƱos to add to My Favorite Coleslaw. I don't usually put them in but I thought I'd give them a try. After adding one of them, I decided that they didn't have quite the right flavor so I added some chopped Bread & Butter Pickled JalapeƱos instead. I really like them in the coleslaw. I'm going to eat my sloppy joes bunless and I bought burger buns for Jerry. The buns in the photo below are my Carbquik Cheddar Buns. They were very good but I don't buy Carbquik anymore.
